A press release sent off in PRLog announced that in DeQuincy, Louisiana anybody caught Twerking would receive a mandatory 30 days in the county jail.

Say what?

The press release read:  “The dance craze twerking has become such a problem in the small town of DeQuincy, Louisiana that city officials have made it illegal.” Adding that mayor, Maynard Wilkens said that twerking “ is a defiant act against Jesus,” and that although dancing would still be allowed in DeQuincy, there could be “no jigglin’ shakin’ and ‘dry humping’” within the city limits.

Does this remind anyone of Footloose? Kind of… right?

And although it is not something straight off a movie, turns out it was all a joke.

The real mayor of the small town- population less than 4,000-, Layrence Henagan gave an interview to New Orleans’s Time-Picayune, calling the ordeal “a bunch of hogwash”, adding that

“It’s a bunch of hogwash,” the real DeQuincy Mayor, Lawrence Henagan, told New Orleans’s Times-Picayune, further noting that before this incident he didn’t even know what twerking was. “There’s nothing to it… Somebody keeps this mess going on.”
